One of my absolute favorite trends of the moment is colorful mirrored prints. I've always been fond of bright explosions of color (when done right!) and there's something about the chaotic symmetry of a colorful mirrored print that I find so pleasing to the eye. I very much love Clover Canyon's beautiful and bright punchy designs, but this ol' tie-dye printed body-con number from Motel (purchased over a year ago) will just have to hold me over until I can call some Clover Canyon pieces my own!

gold sequins & red pumps
I'm the kind of person who despises shopping for a specific event. Waiting until you need to buy something often leads to stress, frustration from not being able to find what you want, making second-rate decisions out of desperation, wasting more time shopping than you otherwise would, and/or paying more than you otherwise would. Instead, I purchase clothing year-round even if it seems impractical at the moment (swimwear in the winter, etc), especially when it's on sale, so that I'm always prepared for any potential event! Sadly, this means I have some special items sitting in my closet just waiting for their time to shine, some of them which have been waiting for quite some time now. I purchased this gold sequin dress from ASOS a while back thinking it would make a great NYE or birthday or holiday party dress one day, yet those events came and went and this dress did not get any play!
Finally, this past weekend my cousin's husband was on the show Shark Tank and celebrated by throwing a red carpet screening party at Old Town Pasadena's Pandora on Green (a cute venue with great catering if you ever need to throw a special event). Red carpet? Ok! I took this opportunity to break out my sequins and my recently-purchased red pumps because I've always loved the combo of red and gold. I'd been on the hunt for some red pumps for a while and Nasty Gal's new shoe line answered my prayers with these L.A.M.B. Oxley dupes in a perfect orangey red shade for spring called "Poppy." Really loving the double velcro ankle straps, and I've been wanting to add some bright colors to my shoe collection! I also rocked an updo that displayed my five-finger forehead which is an extremely rare occurrence for me as I'm quite shy about exposing the thing. It was quite easy to do (although I got some help from my cousin because I am just really awful when it comes to doing hair...thanks Helz!) and I used this YouTube video here which is based on Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar look if you are interested!
PS. If you ever need a photobooth rental check out my cousin's husband's company The Pink Shutter which services almost all of California + Las Vegas and offers really great prices!
Gold Sequin dress, TFNC via ASOS (old). "Faye" platform heels in Poppy, Shoe Cult by Nasty Gal. Cropped moto, also Nasty Gal (old). Mini Valentina, Botkier.
double slits
One of my biggest shopping secrets is PacSun. For a long time I never bothered checking out PacSun, thinking it was just surf/skatewear for the teen set. Then I discovered they actually carry tons of diverse as well as on-trend styles at really accessible prices...which often get marked down, too! I bought this skirt there on clearance for only $10. With double slits, it't definitely got that va va voom factor. Who would have thunk that it came from PacSun?
Another little known fact about PacSun is that in addition to the typical surf/skate brands they are known for carrying, they also recently started carrying emerging fashion brands such as Lovers + Friends, Cheap Monday, Naven, Brandy Melville, Lucca Couture, etc. Check them out here!
Sheer double slit maxi skirt, Kirra via PacSun. Plum open-shoulder crop top, Akira Chicago. Metallic Aldyn satchel, Botkier. Metallic/glitter sandals, Zara.
don't look at me that way
I bought these shoes on clearance at Forever for $8.99 (I practically stole them, really) and they have treated me so, so well! I've worn them quite a few times and they've lasted just fine, surprisingly. And as far as comfort goes, I have many more expensive pairs (well which pairs aren't more expensive?) of shoes that are much more painful. Just goes to show that you don't need to spend a lot of money for a good pair of cute shoes!
Fringed leatherette jacket, H&M. Metallic leopard skirt and strappy pumps, Forever 21. Silk crop tee and necklace, UO. Vintage black patent purse.
