back bay

On a recent cool day, very cold by summer's standards, my boyfriend and I found ourselves walking off a big meal by exploring Newport's Back Bay. Even though we were surrounded by wealthy homes in most directions, it still felt a bit like getting away from city life for a while. The "plop, plop, plop" of fishes jumping out of the water to catch bugs was a surprisingly soothing sound that made me miss camping/fishing. I don't actually enjoy fishing because I think it's gross and mean, but there's little in life that is as relaxing as casting a line and reeling it in (except when it gets caught on something)!
