Perfect Summer Jeans

Summer is officially here and the southwestern United States has already been graced with it's first heat wave of the season (we actually had some really hot days back in February so I can't even say it was the first one of the year). Just last week, people were complaining about the June Gloom, but I always say that June Gloom is the best because it means that it's not blazing hot. So now here we are; no more gloom in sight, in the midst of some record-breaking temperatures, our forests are on fire, and I'm wearing jeans of all things.

Since I consider these to be battle-tested now, I can say with confidence that these boyfriend jeans are the ideal jean for summer. The lightweight denim and the loose boyfriend-cut allow for maximum airflow, while providing a layer of protection between my sweaty thighs and anything they might sit on and leave embarrassing sweat marks behind on...erm, that's not just me, right?? I got the regular inseam which was a bit too long on me so I cut the hems off. Unfinished hems are totally in style, anyway! Without a cuff, the fit is even looser, so I wouldn't want to pair them with anything too big on top. This lightweight top with ruffles at the shoulders is the perfect feminine counterpoint to the baggy bottoms. And this straw boater hat--I've been on the hunt for one for a while, and found a great affordable version from American Eagle! So excited to be topping off my outfits with this hat this summer, and the wide-brim provides awesome protection for my stereotypical Asian, sun-hating face.
