White Before Labor Day

It's finally cool enough for me to pull on a pair of jeans, of the pant variety. It's my last chance to get some wear out of this white, destroyed, boyfriend-style pair from Abercrombie & Fitch before Labor Day--not that it being past Labor Day will stop me from wearing them again. Anyway, I haven't shopped at Abercrombie in many years, not since I used to work for the company in my first and only retail job, but I was recently intrigued by some of their fall campaign images. Seems like they are finally making an effort to evolve rather than continue to more or less offer the same products season after season in slightly different colors (they even make stuff in BLACK now) so I decided to check out their website. They still have a lot of the same styles that they are known for but a good amount of unexpected stuff too--and the prices are much more affordable than they used to be. I couldn't resist picking up a few things, including these boyfriend jeans. Their site is definitely worth a perusal if you haven't checked them out in a while!
Cut It Out

I'm loving the A-line silhouette of this playsuit and the strong 90s-ish vibe. It reminds me of this dress I would wear in the fourth grade. It was navy and had buttons all the way down the front and strings that tied in the back. I decided that this looked a little weird so I tied mine in the front. I think I've discussed both the pros and cons of rompers before, but for summer adventures it's a definite plus. Just think about riding a bike without your skirt flipping up.

Lightweight whites always feel right in the summer sunshine. My normal response to a peasant-style tunic blouse like this would be to pair with a simple pair of denim shorts, but I decided change things up a little and try it with a skirt. I ended up really liking these two together. I hardly ever find myself at the mall because my patience for flipping through racks is somewhat limited (it's so much easier to do everything from behind a computer screen), but my "hard work" paid off when I found this white skirt at Aeropostale! I had been eying some more expensive versions so it was quite the score. It's such a wearable piece that it's definitely been seeing a lot of action this summer!
Double Plaid
While I've been a bit unimpressed with Zara's offerings lately, I still find myself regularly reaching for some old favorites: the double-sided plaid scarf that was sold out and knocked off last season and the cross-strap pumps that made the rounds a couple of years ago. The best part is that they're both so completely timeless; plaid will never go out of style and you can never have too many pairs of beautiful black pumps. As a semi-serious consumer of fashion, it can be difficult to think beyond the current trends, but lately I'm trying to remind myself to be more thoughtful about purchases and to take longevity into consideration.

Winter on the Way
It's crazy how time flies without the structure of school helping to mark its passage. With the weather being so warm in LA, it's truly felt like an extended summer lately, but suddenly, BAM! It's December and the holidays are here! Since we just had a little three-day rainstorm (not nearly enough rain to put a dent in our drought unfortunately), I finally feel like we're joining the rest of the country as our sad little version of winter starts to "set in." With this parka from Aeropostale, the warmest jacket I own, I feel totally prepared for whatever winter LA is able to conjure up this year. Hoping for a bit of snow like always. It did happen once, like back in the 1920s ;).

Lace on Lace
I've been pretty obsessed with these leopard slip-ons ever since I got them. They remind me of the Vans slip-ons I wore in high school, but like, they are way cooler and so am I now. I wasn't sure how I felt about slip-ons making a come-back all of a sudden, but I think the fact that I've been slipping my feet into these nearly every day this week means I'm officially a proponent of the trend. But I'm definitely not wearing them with jeans and a hoodie like I did in high school. I'm keeping it classy with lace and feminine silhouettes. And a denim jacket just for decoration.
I think today has got to be the warmest Thanksgiving of my life, with it currently being 85 degrees outside! The thought of a turkey roasting in the oven just isn't quite the same when it's so warm out. This is a pretty good outfit for warm weather, what with all the ventilation in the back. However, it is a terrible outfit for eating turkey so I'll be changing into some stretchy pants for dinner. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with all the turkey and Stovetop you can eat!

Eyelash Wishes
Here's the perfect dress for all your holiday celebrations, courtesy of Style Moi. I'm not lucky enough to work for a company that throws a big fancy Christmas party every year, but I did get to wear this look to a wedding at least. Bright red is not a color I normally gravitate towards, but it felt very appropriate for the season so i went for it. The fire-engine hue and the pretty eyelash lace details will definitely turn some heads.
