Be There With Bells On
Though this look is decidedly summery, two trends that will definitely still be going strong into fall are bell sleeves and crop kick jeans. I'm not super fond of bell sleeves personally (this top was just too pretty to pass up on, and on sale!), since I'm always worried about accidentally dipping them into food or whatever (I'm messy!), but the crop kick is definitely a trend I can get behind. The silhouette is just super fresh right now--a cropped leg with just a slight flare at the hems. Surprisingly, I found this pair at the Gap. Not that it's surprising that the retailer best known for basics has such an extensive denim selection, but I was surprised that they're carrying some of the more fashion-forward styles and trendier cuts ahead of many other retailers! Awesome possum, Gap.

Best Friends Wear Matching Backpacks
Meet my best friend. She is two going on three. She is definitely a fashionista but we have very different styles. She is all about pink and purple and can rarely be found in any other color. The more ruffles, tulle, and "shiny", the better. She is also a sucker for anything Elsa, Minnie, or Hello Kitty. She usually likes to be the one giving me fashion advice, but for this shoot, we agreed to compromise. We went with her favorite colors, but I got to pick out what we wore. She loves it when we wear our Fjallraven Kankens together, because they are our best friend backpacks. She wishes hers were purple though, because Dora (the explorer) has a purple backpack. Some days she calls me Belle and tells me to call her Punzel. Other days she tells me to call her "My Little Pony." We put snacks in our backpacks and always have fun adventures together. One time, she gave me a fortune cookie, which was super special because sharing isn't one of her strong suits. Every day with her is the best day.

Desert Dreams
It's been a longtime dream of mine to witness the beauty of the Milky Way, which is impossible in most places that humans dwell because of the light pollution. It's incredible to think that people used to observe this wonder all the time, but for the past few centuries it has been hidden to those of us who live our lives in urban/suburban areas. The best time to see it is during the summer, when it's directly overhead, so we headed out to the desert this past Memorial Day weekend and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it before the moon rose. I can't even remember the last time I saw the stars sparkle so brightly and it made me feel tiny and insignificant for sure. At the same time, the beauty of the desert and the sky above us reminded me what a gift it is to be alive on Earth.
I definitely want to practice my astrophotography more, so hopefully another trip to Joshua Tree soon is in the stars (hehe)!

Spring in Swing
So spring's officially in full swing now, and Los Angeles is looking particularly beautiful with blossoming trees everywhere. For today's outfit I'm wearing two of the season's most ubiquitous trends: the button-up skirt and the lace-up top. I picked up both of these pieces from Forever 21 at the same time because I knew they would make such an easy outfit, and it was only a little over $25 for both of them! The white denim is perfect for warmer weather and I love the burnt orange shade of the crop top. And of course I had to keep the look "Fresh Fizzle" by adding a bit of fringe. I've been obsessed with this cardigan from Urban Outfitters ever since I got it. The heels on the other hand, I've had for a while but it's only my second time wearing them. They're not the most practical pair of shoes, and I've been quite lazy when it comes to wearing heels lately, but they definitely make a statement, and I felt my outfit could use a bit of elevation (that's kind of a pun, get it?? Har har...)

Early Spring
Seems Like El Niño is shaping up to be quite the bust here in LA and warmer weather might more or less be here to stay. I tried to hold off as long as I could but I'm sadly starting to pack away some of my scarves and breaking out the shorts and sandals. I know I must sound like such a brat, complaining about warm weather. Like boo hoo, right? But I was so looking forward to some semblance of a "real winter" this season. As real as it can get in Southern California, anyway. I've still got my fingers crossed for some April showers.
Gauzy peasant top, Ecote (sold out). High-waisted denim "Hawks", One Teaspoon. Bouclé cardigan, Zara. Large bucket bag in Cammello, Mansur Gavriel.
